1901 Richfield Disaster Spotlight
🌍 Did you know Utah has experienced devastating earthquakes? 🏚️
On November 13, 1901, an estimated 6.5+ magnitude earthquake struck Richfield, Utah — one of the most powerful earthquakes in state history!
This massive quake was felt across 50,000 square miles, from St. George to Salt Lake City. 😱
The powerful shock waves caused widespread destruction across Central Utah: chimneys, walls, and roofs collapsed 🏠, surface ruptures up to 300 feet long split the ground 🪨, and extensive rockslides blocked canyons and roads 🛤️.
This disaster spotlight is a timely reminder that earthquake preparedness isn't optional in Utah, it's essential.
