About Me

Genevieve Keys is a public affairs and emergency communications leader with more than a decade of experience translating complex, high-stakes information into clear public action. She currently serves as Lead Public Information Officer at the Utah Division of Emergency Management, where she oversees statewide public affairs operations, leads the Be Ready Utah preparedness campaign, and coordinates IPAWS emergency alerting capability across all 29 Utah counties.

Before joining DEM, Genevieve supported emergency communications at the CDC, where she contributed to response efforts for COVID-19, Ebola, New York State polio, and respiratory disease outbreaks. She holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Georgia State University and FEMA ICS and PIO certifications.

Her work spans crisis communications, integrated campaigns, ADA accessibility compliance, paid media, and cross-agency coordination with a consistent focus on plain language, public trust, and measurable impact.
